Zaharias J. "Zack" Leventis, age 18, loving son of John and Catherine (Thompson) Leventis, died Friday evening in Boston Medical Center, Boston from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident Wednesday evening on Lafayette St., Salem.

Born in Danvers, Zack was raised in Salem and attended Horace Mann Elementary School, the Collins Middle School and would have graduated from Salem High School with the Class of 2007 on June 1. Since his freshman year, he has been a member of the Salem High School Golf Team as well as the Winter and Spring Track Team competing in the Shot Put event.
Zack had grown up in a close family home of immediate and extended family full of love and a passion for cooking. An aspiring professional chef, Zack was looking forward receiving his degree in culinary arts. He had followed his passion to cook working with his cousin at their family business the Mediterranean as well as preparing meals at home for all to enjoy.

He is remembered as a very kind person who always took care of his friends and went out his way to make sure they were ok. His great sense of humor and love of comedy always made things better for those he was with.

In addition to his parents, Zack is survived by his 16 year old brother a sophomore at Salem High School, Andrew Leventis of Salem; a large extended family including his 5 aunts and 4 uncles Ann Marie and her husband Bert Silva of Burlington, VT, Steve (his Godfather) and his wife Dawn Leventis of Manchester by the Sea, Matina and her husband Angelo Zervoulias, Vivian Stefanou and Fay and her husband Vasilios Prapas all of Salem; his cousins Matthew, Tasha, Stefanie, John, Peter, Patty, Brendan, Faye, Vinny, Anna, Stephen, Dennis, little Anna, Ariane, Alexandra, Lucca, Alaina, and Evan and many friends.

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral service at 10:00 A.M. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, Ma. 01960. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
