Danvers
William Joseph Wheelock, age 80, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015. Born October 5, 1934 in Swampscott, he was the son of the late Mary M. Wheelock. William was raised and educated in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1953.
After High School, he joined the US Navy Reserve and began a long career with Sylvania on Boston St. in Salem. He retired from Sylvania on Endicott St, Danvers and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a past member of DIV18 AOH of Salem and was an active member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly.
He is survived by his wife Josephine P. Scollans, his daughters, Mary and her husband Bob Jordan of Topsfield, Patricia and her husband Kevin Molloy of Braintree and Joanne and her husband John Ragucci of Danvers. In addition he leaves six grandchildren; Kelsey, Kevin, Lindsey, Lauren, Connor, and Caroline, many cousins and a large extended family both here and in Ireland.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 11:00AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Beverly. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 8th from 4-7PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 313 Washington St #310, Newton, MA 02458.
