William T. "Kiko" Walsh, age 77, husband for 35 years of the late Barbara (Dunajski) Walsh, died at home early Monday morning.
Born in Malden the son of the late John T. and Theodora (Veerman) Walsh, Sr., he was raised and educated in Salem. Mr. Walsh attended Salem High School until serving the United States Army Air Corps during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Mr. Walsh worked as a rigger briefly until becoming employed by the City of Salem Department of Public Works for over 35 years until retiring in 2000.
Dedicated to his family, he enjoyed his grandchildren. Mr. Walsh was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing his passion for history with his son William. He also enjoyed the ocean and being with his friends at Winters Island in Salem.
Mr. Walsh is survived by four children Joseph P. Roddy of Roanoke, VA, Michael J. Roddy of Salem, William T. Walsh II and his wife Michelle of Peabody and Christine Derby and her husband Raymond of Peabody; four grandchildren Paul, Kathryn and Emily Walsh and Meghan Elizabeth Derby all of Peabody; a dear friend Claire L'Abbe of Peabody and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother John T. "Kiko" Walsh Jr. and three sisters, Madeline, Loretta "Teddy" Daigle and Bernice Provencher.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North ST) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 A.M. in St. James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
