William Lincoln Turlo, 87, passed away peacefully at the Merrimack Valley Health Center on Wednesday May 11, 2016. Son of the late Ludwick and Elizabeth (Piasecki) Turlo and husband of the late Janet (LaBelle) Turlo; William was born and raised in Salem where he attended Salem Schools. He worked his entire career within the leather industry and spent some of that time working for Hawthorne Tanning. He was a hobbyist who loved to collect coins and cans. He was also known for being incredibly generous and helpful. Prior to his stay in the nursing home, Bill lived at Penelope Apartments where he was well known for running errands for other residents, shoveling out their cars in the winter when they couldn't do it themselves and making puzzles, several of which he donated to Penelope and still adorn the walls today.
William is survived by: his daughter Karen Ernest of Kershaw, SC; his daughter Lisa Bondeson and husband Roger of Readfield, ME; his granddaughter Melissa Smith of Salem, NH; his grandson David Smith of Brattleboro, VT; his grandson Daniel Smith of Haverhill; his grandson Patrick Waite of Boston; his granddaughter Brielle Bondeson of Readfield, ME; as well as four great grandchildren Lily, Sophia, Angeline and Hayden and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased his siblings Joseph, Alexander, Henry, Frank Frances and Baulislaus Turlo and Martha Hule.
William will be interred during a graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 30 Sylvan Street Danvers, MA 01923 at 11AM on Tuesday May 17, 2016. Services are held by the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St (corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970.
