William Douglas Donaldson, Jr. “Bill” Age 82 died at his home in Salem, Massachusetts on October 4, 2026. Bill was born on July, 4, 1944, son of the late William Douglas Donaldson Sr. And Mary A Donaldson in Jacksonville, Florida. The oldest of three siblings. When Bill was a toddler, the family relocated from Florida to Massachusetts.
Bill graduated high school and started working for The Gillette Company. While there, he attended Boston College at night to obtain his degree in accounting. Bill eventually left Gillette and had a variety of positions, finally landing at Sylvania where he worked until his retirement.
Bill’s passion was family and sports. He started playing sports as a boy and continued into adulthood playing many sports such as hockey, football, bowling, golfing and softball. This passion included being a spectator of any sport, but especially rooting for the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Sandra Lee Donaldson (Dallaire). Bill is also survived by his 4 children: Anita (Donaldson) Wells and Mark Wells of Orlando, Florida. Debra (Donaldson) Huntress and Paul Huntress of Halifax, Massachusetts. Marcia (Donaldson) Trudell and Rene Trudell of Agawam, Massachusetts. Douglas Donaldson and Moriah Pinto of Salem, Massachusetts. Bill will be missed dearly by his 9 grandchildren- Sydney, Brittany, Jasmine, Anthony, Veronica, Cristina, Aidan, Giovanni and Azten, his cherished great granddaughter Isla, as well as his sister Mary (Donaldson) Atchison and brother James “Jimmy” Donaldson.
His funeral services will be held at the Murphy Funeral Hoe, 85 Federal St, Salem in Friday,, October 16, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Relatives and freinds are respectfully invied to attend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
