Pcheny, Walter E. (Uncle Walter), age 92, of Salem. Passed away at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea on October 8. Walter was a Salem High School graduate and a proud alumni of William & Mary College. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII and had a long career at General Electric. In his younger years, he enjoyed tennis, skiing, gardening, cooking and especially his yearly trips to Aruba.
Beloved son of the late Stella and Peter Pcheny of Salem. Husband of the late Evelyn (Soule) Pcheny, and dear friend of the late Irene Fish of Lynn. Brother of Theresa (Pcheny) O'Grady of Salem and her late husband John, Edna (Pcheny) Walsh of Salem and her late husband Bill, William Pcheny and his wife Feenie of Peabody, and Alice (Pcheny) Ainsworth of New Mexico and her late husband Richard. Predeceased by brother John Pcheny of Florida and his late wife Dorothy. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Walter may do so to the Stephen M. O'Grady Scholarship Foundation, 27 Williams St., Salem, MA 01970. Arrangements by Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, MA
