Salem….
Virginia J. (Cyr) Burnham age 87, wife of the late Raymond A. Burnham, died Tuesday afternoon in the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Beverly the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (McAuliffe) Cyr, she was raised and educated in Salem. Following her graduation from St. Mary's High School, she married and began a family. Mrs. Burnham was employed in the retail industry where she held various sales and management positions. She later retired from A.A.R.P as a Job Development Coordinator assisting in placing seniors in working positions. In her retirement, Mrs. Burnham remained active as a volunteer transportation coordinator for cancer patients in the greater Boston and North Shore area who needed transportation to their treatments and appointments.
A communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the Salem Peabody Line .
Mrs. Burnham is survived by three children Donald and his wife Alice Burnham of Venice, FL, Beverlie McSwiggin and her partner John Riley of Salem and Deborah and her husband Walter Bakaletz of Salem; a step son Lawrence "Larry: and his wife Gloria Burnham of Gloucester; seven grandchildren Michelle Itturalde of East Hampstead, NH, Kendra Malionek of Salem, Jennifer Vargas of Peabody, Marc, Justin, Zachary Burnham and Alyssa Moura all of Florida; 14 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a step son Raymond Burnham and a brother Arthur W. Cyr.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the Salem Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
