Vincent P. McCarthy, age 80, husband of Christina (Tak) McCarthy, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage died early Thursday morning in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.
Born and raised in Arlington, Mr. McCarthy attended Arlington Elementary Schools, and was graduated from Boston College High School in the Class of 1948. Following his graduation from Harvard University in the Class of 1952, Mr. McCarthy began a diverse career in real estate where he was successful in brokerages, insurance and sales in California, Ohio, New York and Massachusetts .
A proud father and grandfather, he enjoyed his family and was an active member of the B.C. High School Alumni Association. In their retirement he and his wife had enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, the US and South America.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McCarthy is survived by two children, Ruthann McCarthy and her partner Michelle LeBlanc of Nashua, NH and Karin Louise McCarthy and her husband Doug Atkinson of Marblehead; a sister Ruth McCarthy of Arlington; three grandchildren Tucker, Griffin and Hannah Atkinson of Marblehead and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Vincent Charles McCarthy in 1967 and a sister Elizabeth Cronin.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral Mass on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead. At the family's request there are no visiting hours. Interment will be private.
