Veronica Healey, age 100, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, died Monday, May 4, 2009, in the Ledgewood Nursing Home, Beverly.
Born in Salem the daughter of the late John F. and Ellen E. (Dean) Healey, she was educated at St. Mary's Grammar School and High School. Following her graduation from High School, Miss Healey was graduated from the Salem Commercial School and then joined the Discalced Carmelite Nuns as a Novice.
An unexpected illness prevented her fulfilling her vocational calling. However, she found an alternate outlet of giving to others through her creative talent in arts and crafts. Miss Healey was accomplished at sewing, knitting, crotchet and making dolls. All projects that she freely shared with others to enjoy and bringing her a sense of pride.
She is survived by a brother Thomas Healey and his wife Agnes of Beverly and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Vincent, William and George Healey and a sister Mary Derrivan.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in ST. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
