Veronica (Fetisor) Galiatsatos, age 92, wife of the late Omeros Galiatsatos, Florida, formerly of Salem, died December 5, 2008.
Born, raised and educated in Rumania she was the daughter of the late George and Alexandra Fetisor. After completing her education, Mrs. Galiatsatos married her late husband and moved to Greece. In 1954 they immigrated to the United States, first residing in Beverly and later settling in Salem.
Mrs. Galiatsatos had worked in Salem's shoe manufacturing companies until becoming employed at the former Parker Brothers manufacturing plant in Salem until it closed. She then became an interpreter for Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for seven years and had retired as a cook in 1982, working in Lynn.
A baptized member of the U.C.G since the early 1980's, Mrs. Galiatsatos moved to Florida in 1998 where she continued to remain active with the church.
Mrs. Galiatsatos is survived by a son Fred Galiatsatos of Dania, FL; a brother in law George Galiatsatos of Beverly; eight grandchildren Richard, Tina, James Michelle, Demetrios, Lisa, Sarah and Nicolas; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including Perry, Michel, Paul, Omeros, Chrisula and their families as well as her extended family in Canada and Romania. She will be greatly missed by her great granddaughters Julie and Jennilee, Michelle's daughters who were very close to her in her last years of her life.
She was predeceased by a son Jim Galiatsatos. A brother in law George Galiatsatos and his wife Petrina; and a granddaughter Tash.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon to be followed by funeral services at 12 Noon in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem .
