Thomas J. ":Tommy" Hicks, age 53, died at home, surrounded by his family following a long illness, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
Born and raised in Salem, MA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Brewing) Hicks, he enjoyed spending time with his father and helping him at the family business Hick's Towing. He had attended St. Johns School, Peabody, was graduated from Salem High School then continued working in the family business, Hicks Towing for several years.
Tommy will be remembered by all for his love of museums, his innocent ways and his eagerness to always help. He always saw the best in everyone!
Tommy is survived by his three sisters Janet Howcroft and her husband Richard of Peabody, Judy Dineen of Danvers, and June Hicks of Salem; a brother in law John Andrews of Salem and 14 nieces and nephews Eric and his wife Kelli, Victoria, Liz, Trinity, Jennifer and her children Faith and Tiara, George, Jill, Steven, Veronica, Jacob, Dylan, Todd, Michael and Bryan.
His funeral will be held Wedneday, January 18th at 10:00 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Boul., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dana -Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445 or St. Judes Research Hospital for Children, 501 St. Judes Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
