Obituary

Thomas Niswander passed away at 12:30 PM at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on July 1, 2020. He was the loving husband of Judith Niswander, of whom they shared 55 years together. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Mary and Lorance Niswander. He attended schools in Salem. Tom lived a full life.

When he was 21 he was drafted into the Army where he served for 2 years. He attended Aberdeen Proving Grounds where he graduated as a Turret Artillery Repair Man. From there he went to Colorado and was promoted to Sgt. From there he went to Germany to finish his tour of duty.

Thomas worked for New England Power and Sylvania Lighting in Danvers. He was liked by everyone he came in contact with. Tom would do whatever he could for you if you needed help. He never had a bad word for anybody. He was always by his wife's side in the good and the bad. While his stay in the hospital was a long one he never stopped fighting, hoping someday he might make it back home. He was loved by everyone at the hospital and they called him the Mayor of the second floor.

To all who knew Thomas, his passing brings grief and sorrow but also a sense of joy for having had him their lives. Everyone who knew him was touched by him in one way or another. Besides his wife, he leaves behind two daughters Tammy and Tina Niswander; four grandchildren, Randy, Kyle, Samantha and Brianna. He also leaves a great grandchild Maxson. He leaves a brother Ronald White and his wife Sara. He also leaves his faithful friends Janice and Rick Carlan.

The family cannot express enough thanks to all who cared for Tom both at Spaulding Hospital in Salem and also the Spaulding in Cambridge. You all became part of our family over the years. Tom we love you and we will miss you.
