Thomas Gregory, age 88, loving husband for over 50 years of Mary (Vorgeas) Gregory died unexpectedly in Salem Hospital Monday afternoon, July 20th, 2009 following a brief illness.



He was born in Salem and raised in Peabody, the son of the late Sam and Demetra Gregory. During his childhood he helped his father at the family business, Gregory Cleansers on Derby St, Salem. Following his graduation from Peabody High School at the age of 17, Mr. Gregory became the proprietor of the family business which he operated for 45 years until retiring in 1983. AT the beginning of WWII, Mr. Gregory did leave the business to proudly serve the country with the 3815th Quartermaster Gasoline Supply Company during World War II in Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy and the Rhineland.



Mr. Gregory enjoyed educational television, deep sea fishing, classical music and in his younger years snowmobiling. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and the many wonderful trips they took together over the years.



In addition to his wife, Mr. Gregory is survived by a daughter Deborah Gregory of Salem, a brother Nicholas Gregory of Gloucester; a sister Mary Serrow of Andover and several nieces and nephews.



He was predeceased by a sister Christine Haykal.



His funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M in the Church. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital, Development Office, 243 Charles St Boston, MA .
