Thomas Mark Donnellan, age 78, loving and devoted husband of Sally Ann (Murphy) Donnellan of Marblehead, died unexpectedly at home, Sept 24, 2012.
Born in Winchester, MA the son of the late Thomas and Irene (Kelley) Donnellan, he graduated from Marblehead High School Class of 1952. Mr. Donnellan then enrolled at St. Michaels's College in the fall of 1952 and was a member of the Golf Team. Following his graduation in 1956, he proudly joined the United State Marine Corps.
Upon his honorable discharge, Mr. Donnellan began what would become a longtime career with Travelers Insurance. During his career be remained with the company through their Merger with Citigroup and in his retirement he remained as a consultant for several years.
The center of his life was focused on his family and faith. He had a life passion for golf. He was a longtime member of Tedesco Country Club playing in many tournaments with his friends and family.
An avid Boston sports fan, he enjoyed gardening, and was a faithful and was a frequent blood donor
In addition to his wife, Mr. Donnellan is survived by his daughter Sarah (Donnellan) Ayott, her husband Chuck and their children Matthew Thomas, twins Ella Mary and William Graham Ayott of Marblehead; a brother of Kevin Donnellan of Naples, FL; three nephews and a niece Mark, Cairann, Brian, and Paul Gallagher. He was predeceased by his twin sister Sheila Gallagher.
His funeral will be held on Sat. Sept 29, 2012 at 10:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St, Salem, and MA. to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 81 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Fri, from 4-8 PM. Interment will be at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
