Obituary

Theresa K. (Kobuzewski) LeBel, age 87 years, died peacefully in her sleep, on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018, after 1 week in assisted living at The Bertram House in Swampscott, MA.  Terrie was a lifelong resident of Salem, Ma. She graduated from St. James High School, followed by a concentration in business administration at the Salem Commercial School and subsequent employment as an executive assistant to the president of the Salem Five Cents Savings Bank. She had two long and loving partnerships. The first produced two children and ended in divorce after 35 years. Her second brought her back together with her high school sweetheart for another amazing 30 years. Her greatest loss was, the early death from cancer at age 27 years , of her oldest daughter, Victoria. She has been blessed with remarkable grandchildren and great grandchildren, her surviving daughter, and enumerable devoted friends.

Terrie enjoyed a full and spirited life of service to many local charitable institutions, creative event planning for the Peabody Essex Museum, and devotion to family and friends. She worked for Catholic Charities, The Garden Club of the North Shore, The Historic Society of Salem, the Red Cross, Endicott College, and Salem Hospital. At the hospital, she created and broadcast a closed circuit television program for the patients and staff. She was a passionate promoter and social planner for the Peabody Essex Museum. She created a small business as a personal shopper and worked for the Salem Chamber of Commerce.

Terrie was a consummate hostess, a selfless and tireless caretaker, and a beacon of beauty and style. She greeted strangers and friends with a bright smile and open heart, made all feel valued and loved, and closed every interaction with a hug. She joyously gave of her free time to the care and support of all animals, at home and abroad, read voraciously, and maintained an informed and active lifestyle. At the end of her life, she maintained her constant optimism, humor, and irresistible charm. Her grateful family will celebrate her life…

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Alyssa LeBel, her son-in-law , Dr. Edward Kaye, of Marblehead and Charlestown, her grandchildren, Dimitri Kaye of Malden and Amy Cavilla of Hamilton, her great-grandchildren, John and Weston Cavilla of Hamilton, MA., her devoted niece Janice Charleton of Salem, as well as many more loving nieces, nephews , and friends. Her family would also like to thank the Bertram House of Swampscott, who provided exceptional care and respect during her all too brief stay at this most special place.
