Doris (LaJoie) Bourque, age 79, loving wife of Roland Bourque, died Wednesday evening, December 8, 2010 at her home.
Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Evelyn (Cote) LaJoie, Mrs. Bourque was raised in Salem where she has lived all of her life. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Salem Commercial School. Following graduation, Mrs. Bourque was employed with Almy's in their administrative office. She continued her career at G.E. in Lynn for several years, until she was married and started her family. Mrs. Bourque enjoyed being a homemaker and a stay at home Mom.
Mrs. Bourque volunteered at St. Anne School until it closed in 1976. She became active at the Salem Council on Aging. She was a line dance instructor until three weeks ago. She also assisted with line dance classes at the Saugus Council on Aging. Mrs. Bourque loved traveling extensively with her husband and had visited six out of the seven continents.
Surviving her in addition to her loving husband are her two twin sons, Stephen Bourque and his wife Lynne of Littleton and Kevin Bourque and his wife Cheryl of Reading; her brother and sister, Gerard LaJoie of Windham, NH and Pearl LaJoie of Lynn; her six grandchildren, Victoria, Katy, Andrew, Alisyn, Justyn and Trystan and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bourque was predeceased by her brother Clarence LaJoie.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday , December 13, at 8:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem, to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 A.M. at St. Anne Church, 292 Jefferson Ave., Salem. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home. Internment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
