Obituary

A lifelong resident of Salem and enthusiastic traveler, Ted Yeannakopoulos liked nothing more than sitting at a cafe, preferably outdoors sipping coffee and sharing food with anyone in his wide circle of friends and family.  He was known at and frequented many of the best dining spots in the greater Salem area. He could also be found enjoying a hotdog or chop suey sandwich at the Salem Willows.  He loved picnicking and spending the day at the beach.  His love of the ocean inspired him to dedicate a bench at Winter Island  overlooking Salem Harbor.

An excellent cook and generous host, Ted amazed his guests with many elaborate meals that were always artfully and meticulously presented.

Ted graduated from Bentley College in 1952, served honorably in the US Army, and received advanced degrees from Boston University in 1958 and 1969.

A public school teacher for many years, Ted dedicated his professional life to teaching math and science to middle school students.  He was an enthusiastic early adopter of computer technology in the classroom and retired as a vice principal from the Bedford public schools.

Ted, the son of John and Eleni Eliopoulos Yeannakopoulos, was one of seven siblings, Julia Archon, Florence Gianakakis,  Anastash Yeannakopoulos, James Yeannakopoulos, and Efrosine, Stavros  all deceased.  He is survived by his many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended network of friends and family who all loved him. Ted was predeceased by his close friend, Albert Bourque with whom he shared many years of world travel and adventure.

At Teds request there will be no services and burial will be private.

May his memory be eternal.
