Thelma L. Cobb, age 89 of formerly of Carpenter St., and Beachmont Rd, Salem, died Wednesday evening in the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born in Quincy, MA, one of 10 children, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Elsie M. (Foss) Cobb. Miss Cobb was raised in Mattapan and following her graduation from Mattapan High School was employed as a secretary for over 20 years by Ellis Chalmers until her retirement.
She enjoyed knitting and donating her work to many local organizations including the Women's Friend Society in Salem where she had been very active.
Her survivors include a brother Sumner Cobb and his wife Florence of Georgetown, her best friend June Mullen of Beverly and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings of five brothers Clifford, Richard, Phillip, Eugene and Raymond Cobb, a sister Elsie Curran as well as two babies her mother lost at birth.
