Sylvia (Belanger) Ywuc passed away peacefully after enjoying a long and happy life.
She was the wife of John J Ywuc, her high school sweetheart, to whom she was married for 65 years. She was a lifelong Salem resident. Sylvia worked at Merchants bank, North Shore Special Education Consortium and Cabot Market Letters. She was involved in various city improvement committees and was a longtime member and past president of Salem Garden Club. Her many interests included traveling, gardening, cooking and enjoying the company of friends and family.
Sylvia was born to Wilfred Belanger and Anna (Chaves) Belanger. She was predeceased by sister Elizabeth Meador, brother Leon Belanger and brother Joseph (Robert) Belanger. She is survived by sister Theresa Lebel.
Sylvia is also survived by children, Denise Lawrence and her husband John of Middleton, Michael and his wife Michelle of Newburyport and Laurie-Ann Goldey and her husband Charles of Georgetown. Sylvia's eldest son John A Ywuc predeceased her. She was the loving grandmother of Cailin Hanrahan, Alyssa Gerard-Ywuc, Taylor Lawrence, Christopher Lawrence and Charles (CJ) Goldey and Great grandmother of Henry Cole Gerard-Ywuc and Declan Thomas Hanrahan.
Visiting Hours for Sylvia will be held on Tuesday, July 5, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal Street, Salem MA. A Funeral Mass for Sylvia will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 1 Margin Street, Peabody.
