Sylvia H. (Feenan) Murphy, age 86, wife of the late Richard A. Murphy, died Friday February 13, 2015 at the Devereaux Nursing Home . Born in Salem the daughter of the late Arthur and Marion (Welch) Feenan, she was raised and educated in Salem, attending St. Marys School and graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1946. She then attended the Fashion School of Modern Design. Following her husband's death, she was a Clerk at Patti Ann in Salem. Most of all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by 5 children, Marion Tina of Salem, James Murphy of Lawrence, Greg and his wife, Patricia of Annadale, VA, Marcia and her husband Mark Stemmler of Haverhill and Carol and her husband Shawn Szczechowicz of Salem; 10 grandchildren, Brian Murphy, Crystal Murphy, Richard Murphy, Sarah Murphy, Ian Murphy, Bridget Stemmler, Kirsten Stemmler, Gretchen Stemmler, Holly Szczechowicz, Andrew Szczechowicz and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Arthur and James Feenan and two sisters, Mary McDonald and Nancy Feenan.

Her funeral will be held on Friday February 20, 2015 at 10:15 A.M from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:A.M. at St. James Church, 156 Federal St, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102 Danvers, Ma. 01923. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
