IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susanne
Day
February 13, 1943 – May 10, 2020
Susanne (Collins) Day, 77, of Beverly, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, died peacefully at Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Sunday, May 10, 2020 after a lengthy illness, hastened by coronavirus.
Born in Salem, Sue grew up and spent most of her time raising her family and living in Lynn. In her later years she lived in Beverly. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Agnes (Smith) Collins. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1960.
Sue was a stay-at-home mom until the mid-1980s. She worked a few different jobs after that, including Empire Clothing at Liberty Tree Mall, the Pyramid Bookstore in Salem, and later as a billing specialist in various physicians' offices. Sue loved to hike and ski in the White Mountains, the venue of many family vacations, and where even more cherished memories were formed. Sue enjoyed board games, card games, as well as jigsaw puzzles. Sue loved animals, both wild and domestic. Her household always had pets, most of which were cats, her favorite animal of them all.
Married twice, Sue's first husband was the late James F. Osterfield of Lynn, the father of her first two children, Timothy J. Osterfield and his wife Denise of Townsend, and Cheryl Osterfield-Atkinson of Swampscott. Sue's second husband was Daniel M. "Mike" Day, previously of Lynn and recently of Virginia, and was the father of her third child, Todd M. Day and his wife Kate of Jeffersonton, Virginia. Sue and Mike remained good friends throughout her life. Between her three children, Sue boasts eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren (with a fourth on the way). She is also survived by her brother Edward C. Collins, previously of Danvers and recently of Pennsylvania, and many adoring nieces and nephews and their children. Sue will be missed and remembered fondly by her many family and friends.
Unfortunately due to the current circumstances, there will be no public services for Sue. She has been cremated and her ashes distributed among her three children. The family will notify family and friends if at a later time a memorial gathering is held.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes anyone to donate in Sue's memory to Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem. They can be found at
