Obituary

Marblehead, Ma: Stephen Magrane, 60, beloved husband and father, died October 7, 2015 with his family by his side. Born in Salem on July 6, 1955, and a lifelong resident of Marblehead, he was the son of the late John Magrane and Suzanne (Chandonnet) Magrane of Marblehead and a graduate of Marblehead High School. Employed by Bartlett and Steadman and the Town of Marblehead Department of Public Works, Steve enjoyed his work in construction.

Married in 1986 to Laurie (Hanlon) Magrane, they built a loving home to four daughters. Steve most often could be found on the sidelines or in the stands of a hockey rink cheering on his daughters while they engaged in sports and various activities, rarely missing a game. He also was a longtime coach for Marblehead Youth Hockey, coaching countless children in the sport that he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laurieann (Hanlon) Magrane of Marblehead, and his four daughters Ashley (Magrane) Quell and Robert Quell of Lexington, SC; Erin Magrane of Salem, MA; Kelsey Magrane and MollySue Magrane of Marblehead, MA. He was expecting his first grandchild in February of 2016. He is also survived by his mother, Suzanne Magrane, of Marblehead and his sister, Sara (Magrane) Roundy and her family—Sam, Peter, Katherine, and Michael Roundy of Simsbury Connecticut.

The family would like to sincerely thank Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Home and Pond View Elder Services in Lynn for the attentive and excellent care provided to both Steve and his family during this past year.

Services will be held at the Old North Church in Marblehead, MA, at 12pm on Saturday, October 10, 2015, followed by a reception at the Gerry VFW in Marblehead, MA. The internment will be a private ceremony. The family asks in lieu of flowers for donations to be made towards the Stephen B. Magrane Scholarship. Donations can be made through the National Grand Bank in Marblehead, MA.
