Salem – Stella V. (Vallis) George, wife of the late Nicholas George, passed away at her home on Monday October 2, 2018.  Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Nicolopolous) Vallis.  She was a graduate of Salem High School and had lived in the City all of her life.  During World War II, Stella was employed with Sylvania as a glass blower and later working at Baker Shoes and various retail stores.  She continued her career as a bookkeeper for Dr. Charles Vallis until her retirement.

Mrs. George was an active member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody where she was a member of the Daughters of Penelope. She loved tending to her garden, cooking and baking for her family, and knitting everything from warm scarves to intricately designed creations. She was an avid Red Sox Fan and loved going to games, traveling and spending time with loved ones.

Surviving her are her sons, Peter George and his wife Janet and James George and his wife Joan all of Salem, her grandchildren, Jason George, Julia and Nicholas Minichillo, Jill George, Jaclyn Nicole George-Erickson and her husband Bryan Erickson and Anthony George, her great grandchildren Pepper Minichillo and Jaime George, her brother George Vallis and his wife MaryAnn and several nieces and nephews.  She was also the sister of the late Harry, Charlie and Christopher Vallis.

Her funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem  on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St, Peabody at 11:00 a.m.  Visiting hours are Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Orne St, Salem.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice, 100 Cummings Center, Beverly, MA  01915.   For additional information or online guest book please call 978-744-0497 or visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com .
