Salem – Stanley Thomas Fudala of Strafford, NH and Salem, MA, passed away on Sunday morning November 5, 2017 , with his loving family at his side. He joins his beloved wife of 44 years, Margaret Demas Fudala, in eternal happiness.
Born on November 5, 1928 and raised in Chicago, IL, son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Wajda) Fudala, formerly of Chicago, IL. Stan graduated from Harrison High School in 1948 and then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning from the war, Stan worked at Emerson College in Boston, building theater sets, while earning a degree in Fine Arts from Boston University, from where he graduated in 1958. He was a proud member of the IATSE Local 11, Stage Hand Union, where he was given opportunity to work as a stage hand on many local TV and movie sets including Spencer for Hire, Hocus Pocus, Mermaids, Witches of Eastwick, and many theater productions. Stan, with his darling wife, traveled extensively with the Boston Symphony Orchestra to Japan and Europe.
Stan enjoyed spending his days with his wife, building everything she asked for, together creating the most beautiful garden on the lake. He was a master wood worker, brilliant gardener, and Bow Lake's best boat tour guide. Stanley always enjoyed watching westerns and his favorite Boston and Chicago sports teams, as well as telling his life story and making people smile. He took time out of his busy schedule to teach his nieces and nephews anything and everything, any chance he had. He loved teaching them how to fish, zip line, shoot a bb gun, and dig for worms in the vegetable garden. He was a wealth of knowledge and they adored him for it. He also loved having his family from out of state visit. He took time to plan excursions for them when they arrived, keeping them busy and entertained throughout New England. He treasured the time he had with them.
His family was blessed to share with him all of his days. These days, were described by Stan as, "a full and happy life." Stanley leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews in California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Texas. He was pre deceased by his parents, his "Best Girl" and wife Margaret (Demas) Fudala, his brother Frank Fudala formerly of Chicago, IL, and his sister Josephine Plecki formerly of Canton, IL.
His Funeral Service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (corner of North St.) Salem on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church Greek School, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
