Marblehead
Shirley Weed Mills, age 86, formerly of Marblehead and wife of the late Elwin D. Mills of Marblehead, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Prosser Washington.
Born in Lynn, Ma, the daughter of the late Massachusetts National Guard Brigadier General Frederick T. Weed and the late Evelyn (MacKenzie) Weed graduated from Swampscott High School in the Class of 1943. During World War II Mrs. Mills worked as a clerk typist for The Air Transport Command at the Presque Isle Maine Army Air Corps Base.
After the war, Mrs. Mills raised a family in Marblehead, Ma. Mrs. Mills was employed by The Tower School in Marblehead as the school secretary for ten years. She also worked at Harbor Town Florist for many years and as an election poll worker for The Town of Marblehead. Mrs. Mills enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her three sons, Frederick Mills and his wife Lynn of Prosser, WA, Mark Mills and his wife Linda and Jonathan Mills and his wife Patricia all of Marblehead, MA and six grandchildren, Thomas, Douglas, Adrienne, Elise, Emily and Matthew.
