Obituary

Salem – Sean J. Murphy, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Advinia Care facility in Salem, MA. Sean was born on December 2, 1962 and was the only son of the late John and Kathleen (Joyce) Murphy.

Sean grew up in Salem, MA and graduated Salem High School in 1980. He loved to work in the restaurant business. After moving to Sarasota, Florida, he worked his way up to become a manager at McDonalds. He spent years down in Florida but never lost touch with his home and he eventually settled back in Salem and worked at a variety of restaurants in the North Shore area. He will always be remembered by everyone who met him and got to know him. Sean always had a smile on his face and everyone that met him liked him instantly.

Sean cherished his two adopted Jack Russell terriers, Scarlet and Lily.  He loved spending time with his family and he really enjoyed being with his nieces and nephews.

Sean is survived by his four sisters – Catherine Emerling and husband Kim of Salem, Maureen Morgan and husband Dennis of Marblehead, Colleen Millea and her fiancé James Rybicki of Salem and Sara Mullins and husband Rick of Salem. He leaves behind 4 nieces, Amanda Murphy, Amy Grady, Katelyn and Keira Mullins and his three nephews, James Millea, Jack Emerling and Will Emerling.  Sean was also the great uncle of Ava Wall, Conor Grady and Claire Grady.  He had many cousins on the North Shore as well as first cousins in Ireland and England.  His smile and great sense of humor will be missed by all.

The family would like to extend a loving thank you to all who had cared for him during his illness with a very special thank you to the wonderful people at Advinia Care and Care Dimensions. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in Sean's name to the Northeast Animal Shelter at 347 Highland Avenue, Salem MA.  Sean was a lover of all animals and an advocate for adopting homeless animals.
