It is with deepest sorrow and regret that the Salem Fire Department announces the sudden and untimely death of Active Duty Member, Lieutenant Scott Hebert, Salem Local 172. Son of Henry Hebert and Lena (Begin) Abbott, Brother Hebert was born in Danvers and was raised by Lena and his stepfather Thomas Abbott. Brother Hebert and his wife Karyn were on vacation in the Dominican Republic when he suffered a devastating heart attack on January 30, 2017. Brother Hebert was appointed to the Salem Fire Department on August 14, 1998 and was promoted to Lieutenant on January 26, 2008.
Scott was a loving and devoted father and husband. He was a committed coach for Danvers Little League and Danvers Youth Football and a supporter of Bishop Fenwick High School. A true motor head, Scott loved Harley's and NASCAR and was a founding member of the Hawgs Wild motorcycle club. He was an avid sports fan and lived for the New England Patriots.
Brother Hebert is survived by his loving wife Karyn Hebert of Danvers, his daughter Sarah Watson and her partner Michael O'Brien, his son Matthew Watson, his son Coleman Hebert, his son Jacob Hebert, his grandson Dylan O'Brien, his mother Lena (Begin) Abbott and her husband Thomas of Danvers, his father Henry Hebert of New Ipswich, NH, his sister Cheryl (Hebert) Dion of Beverly, his brother Jerry Hebert of Beverly, his brother Stephen Hebert and a large extended family of friends, colleagues and relatives.
Visiting hours for Scott will take place on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 4 to 8PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (Corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970. The public is warmly invited to attend Interment service at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St, Peabody, MA 01960 on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 4PM as well as a celebration of Scott's life at the Salem Waterfront Hotel, 225 Derby St, Salem, MA at 5PM. In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Scott Hebert Memorial Fund, c/o the Greater Salem Federal Credit Union, 10 Colonial Rd #1A, Salem, MA 01970.
