Sara Bryant Smith, age 37, of Marblehead died at home Wednesday morning, September 30, 2009 following a long, courageous battle with caner, with her husband and soul mate Adam Smith at her side.
Born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, she was educated in South Florida where she had excelled in the arts. Sara excelled in the arts especially painting, pottery and drawing. Her family summered at Camp Highlander, NC (where her parents also worked) where Sara embraced all outdoors activities including climbing, hiking, kayaking.
After her graduation from college she returned to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and became a manger for Pottery Barn. As her desire to travel grew she transferred her position as a manager to Boston and moved to Salem. Sara later pursued a career in telecommunications and moved to Brookline. In 2003 she met her soul mate Adam, through mutual friends. Ten days after their engagement in 2004, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an illness she fought with courage and conviction and ultimately beat. She and Adam married on October 8, 2005.
Almost a year later, Sara was diagnosed with brain cancer in November of 2006 and again engaged her battle of cancer while she and Adam lived life aggressively.
A strong willed person and kind to the core, she and Adam traveled the world extensively living life to fullest while constantly giving back to others. She loved her family, friends and life!
She is survived by her father Leon Bryant and his wife Cynthia of The Villages FL and her mother Bonnie (Robbins) Bryant of Boca Raton, FL; a sister Amy and her husband Bryan Brinkley of Jacksonville, FL; her mother and father in law Richard and Carol Smith of Marblehead as well as her brothers and sisters in law Matt and Shana Smith of Marblehead and Jason Smith and Lauren Melone of Brighton and many aunts uncles, cousins and countless friends. The family extends a special thanks to the staffs of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital and Hospice of the North Shore for all of their untiring care. Funeral services will be Monday, Oct 5, 2009 at1:00 P.M. in the Old North Church, 35 Washington St., Marblehead, MA 01945. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of Rte 114, exit 25A from rte 128) Salem. Interment will be private.
