Salem….


A. Ruth Morgan, 76, of Salem died Friday, September 3, 2010 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.


A lifelong resident of Salem, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Ellen (Sweeney) Morgan. She was educated in Salem graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1951. Miss Morgan received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Salem State University. She began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher at the Endicott School in Salem where she later served as the Principal for many years until its closing and her retirement.


Miss Morgan enjoyed travel, especially in the Caribbean, and beach going. She loved to entertain her family and friends for any and all occasions.


She is survived by a brother Rev. Thomas B. Morgan, Pastor of Star of the Sea Parish, Salisbury, MA, a sister Dorothy K. Starble and her husband Pasquale of Tuftonboro, NH, a brother-in-law Nicola A. Barletta of Rockport, MA and her longtime close friend, retired Salem police officer Raymond Parlee of Danvers, MA. Miss Morgan was predeceased by a sister Mary T. Barletta of Rockport, MA. Miss Morgan is also survived by six nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life.


Her funeral will be held on Thursday 11:00 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd. Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor. of North St) Salem. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
