Salem….
Ronald J. Turcotte, Sr. age 67, husband for 48 years of Maryann Diane (Roulier) Turcotte, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers surrounded by his family.
Born in Salem the son of the late Azaria and Margaret (Quartarone) Turcotte, he was raised and educated in Salem graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1962. A decorated Viet Nam Veteran, Mr. Turcotte served in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War.
Mr. Turcotte enjoyed understanding how things worked and combined his curious mind with his desire to help others as a heavy equipment mechanic. He truly loved projects and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Ron also took these skills to youth sports coaching both Salem Youth Hockey Pee Wee and Bantam teams instilling confidence and skill to many with his "firm hand and soft glove" approach. His greatest pride was having the opportunity to coach his own children.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Turcotte is survived by two sons, Ronald J. Turcotte, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Howell, NJ and Mark M. Turcotte, of Laconia, NH; three grandchildren Alex, Zachary and Emma; a sister in law Joanne Bomarsi of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Francis Turcotte.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. To be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 160 Federal St., Salem, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
