Ronald Charles Dudley (Ronny), died Monday January 3, 2011 at his residence. Born September 29, 1946 in Danvers, son of the late Anne (Condon) Dudley formerly of Salem, he had resided in the City all of his life.
Ronald attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of Salem High School in the class of 1966. Immediately following his graduation he entered the Untied States Army and served his country in the Republic of Vietnam during the invasion of Saigon. He also served with the European Force's headquarters command in Vecenca, Italy until he was honorably discharged in 1969.
After his military service Mr. Dudley attended Northeasten University and pursued a life long career as a licensed nutritionist and food service director for several medical institutions.
Mr. Dudley was especially proud to be a life member of and trustee of the V.F.W. Post 1524 in Salem. He had a great respect for all of nature and was especially close to his loving dogs. He could often be found enjoying the beauty of the ocean.
Mr. Dudley leaves his close and dearly loved friends of whom he referred to as his angels. He is survived by his sister, Carol Melville of Peabody; many close friends including Sally and John Hayes of Salem; Cliff Cook of Gloucester; David Billard of Gloucester; Mary Walsh Durant of Peabody; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Patricia (Patsy) Dudley Cudmore formerly of Georgetown and Mariana Dudley Richard formerly of Salem.
His funeral will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. James Church, 160 Federal St., Salem, MA . Visiting hours will be Thursday, from 5:00 P.M to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Per Mr. Dudley's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran's of Foreign Wars V.F.W. Post 1524, Derby St., Salem, MA 01970.
