BEVERLY – Robert A. Sylvester, age 84, died Thursday evening July 15, 2021 at Care One Essex Park in Beverly.  Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Donovan) Sylvester.  Robert graduated from Salem High School and entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War.  Upon returning from the military, he started his career in banking at the Merchants Warren Bank in Salem.  He worked his entire career in banking and was a vice president at the time of his retirement.

Robert enjoyed golfing and had played on a league at the Olde Salem Greens.  He also enjoyed horse racing and going to the dog track.  He was spent many hours reading and was excellent at math.

Surviving him are his sisters, Gaye Gaudrault, Carol Porcello and her husband Peter, Barbara Holloran and her husband Ronald, Kathleen Wilkinson and her husband John, many nieces and nephews and a special niece Susan Gaudrault.  He was predeceased by his sisters Dolores Grieco and Joan and Marilyn Sylvester and his children Karen and Gary Bradley.
