Obituary

Robert M. Shea of Salem died at the age of 86 following a brief illness. His loved ones were with him when the Angels carried him home to Heaven. Bob was the loving husband of Mary Ann (Sullivan) Shea with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late William and Marion Shea. Bob was educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1948 and served as Class President. In 1999, Bob was inducted into the Salem High School Football Hall of Fame. He was also a graduate of Holy Cross College class of 1952. He proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Salem Witch City VFW Post #1524.

Bob retired from GTE Sylvania after 38 years as a sales executive covering the North Shore and lighting up the city of Boston. He was a member of Sylvania's Quarter Century Club.
Bob was dedicated to his family and many friends. A "Jack of all trades" he could fix just about anything. Gladly willing to lend a helping hand and share his many talents. He loved construction, Irish music, world history and documentaries and he was also eager to expand his own knowledge. But most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his wife Mary Ann, he leaves behind his brother Michael Shea of Georgetown; children Mary Lou and her husband Kevin O'Connor of Lynnfield, Robert Shea, Jr. and Michael Shea of Salem, David Shea of Georgetown and Susanne Turner of Danvers. Grampy leaves many grandchildren and great-grand children. He was predeceased by brothers William, Leonard, and Raymond; sisters Evelyn Melville, Audrey Garrity, and Patricia Brophy; and his 'Canadian son' Marcel Dufour.

His Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem on Monday December 1st at 11:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor. of North St.) Salem on Sunday, November 30th from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Interment will be private.
