Danvers

Robert L Scatterday, 79, husband of the late Nancy J (Allen), died peacefully on July 2nd with his family at his bedside at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Robert A and Susan Scatterday in Danvers. His illness was brief and through it all he never lost his good humor and great smile.

Born in Belmont on Nov 28, 1927, son of the late Russell and Carolyn (Lane) Scatterday, he was raised in Rockport. He graduated from Gloucester High School Class of 1946 and attended University of VT, leaving to join the army during the Korean War.

After his marriage to Nancy Joan Allen of Magnolia, he lived in Danvers for thirty-five years. He worked for New England Telephone and Nynex for thirty-six years, moving back to Rockport in 2000.
After his wife Nancy passed away in 1987, Bob devoted his life to his three children. A very caring, kind man to his family and friends, he will be greatly missed. An avid Red Sox fan, Mr. Scatterday was a little league coach in Rockport.

In addition to his son, Robert A, he leaves two daughters, Joan N Keefe of Rockport and Susan L. and her husband Steve Worsham of Danvers. Four grandchildren, Jennifer Keefe of Rockport, Daniel Blanchard of Danvers, Shawn McCelland of Seabrook, NH, and Kayli Scatterday of Beverly. His brother and sister-in law, David and Elizabeth Scatterday of Rockport. His sister-in-law, Dorrie Proctor and her husband Charles of Ipswich. Also, four great –grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A very good friend from high school days, Frank E Davis.
