Robert L. Millard, age 78, loving husband for 58 years of Nancy L. (Scialdone) Millard of Salem, more recently of Hampstead, NH, died early Sunday morning, May 6, 2012 in the Merrimac Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

Born in Peabody, the son of the late John A. and Elsie (Lawton) Millard, he was raised and educated in Salem attending St. James Grammar School. Following his graduation from Salem High School, Mr. Millard attended Northeastern University until beginning his career when he established Millard Heating in 1988, which later became known as Millard and Son Heating.

During his career, Mr. Millard became the Chief Engineer at Malden Hospital and was later the Chief Engineer and Director of Facilities for Salem State University until his seasonal retirement to Englewood, FL in 1997. Unable to stay retired, he had been an instructor at the Peterson School of Engineering in Woburn as well as a Director of the Sarasota Trade School in Sarasota, FL

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Robin Hincman and her husband Paul of Peabody, Renee Dempsey and her husband Dana of Peabody, Ruthann Curtis and her companion Derek Reed of Beverly and Dean Millard and his wife Catherine of Peabody; 10 grandchildren David Hincman and his wife Jennifer, Jeremy Hincman and his wife Amy, Ryan Dempsey, Meaghan Hazzard and her husband Jon, Patrick Dempsey, Gina Millard, Diana Millard, Scott Millard, Petty Officer Daniel Curtis, USN, and Naval Hospital Corpsman Robert Curtis, USN; one great grandchild James Dean Hincman; a brother John Paul Millard and his wife Cheryl of Peabody and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a twin brother Richard Millard.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 156 Federal St, Salem Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
