Salem, MA – Robert P. Kennedy, 77, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, in the company of his family at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Carbon) Kennedy and resident of Salem for over 50 years.

Robert studied at Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University.  He was employed as a manufacturing engineer by the United Shoe Machinery Company, "The Shoe" in Beverly, MA until it's closure.  He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in South Station, Boston until his retirement.

An avid sports fan and former high school baseball player, Robert was always cheering on the hometown Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, cherishing each of their championship runs.

Robert is survived by his children, Maureen Reardon and her husband Dennis J. Reardon, III of Peabody; Robert M. Kennedy of Salem, Karen Romanowski and her husband Mark of Middleton, and Michael Kennedy of Salem.   His grandchildren, Krystyna (Reardon) Wood and her husband Michael of Epping, NH, Dennis J. Reardon IV of Peabody; Samantha Kennedy of Salem, MA; and Blaise, Bryan and Brady Romanowski of Middleton, MA.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will take place on Friday August 24, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal St. Salem. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 25, 2018 at St. James Church, located at 160 Federal St, Salem, MA 01970.
