IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Hughes Hufnagel Jr
November 13, 1952 – August 2, 2024
Robert "Bob" Hughes Hufnagel Jr., 71, from Salem, MA passed away on the morning of Friday, August 2, 2024 after a brief illness. Born in Baltimore, MD to Robert and Audrey (Carlsen) Hufnagel, Bob moved with his family to Marblehead, MA where he spent his childhood before joining the United States Air Force.
Bob was stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Maine and served with honor during the end of the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he moved to Salem to start a family with his wife, Rena and they had three children together. Bob's family was his highest priority, prompting him to devote his efforts to providing the best life for them.
Bob had numerous jobs early in his life, but his long term career and passion was in computer science, specifically network engineering. This path led him to work for companies like Digital and Intel, in addition to working for the government and taking him from Massachusetts all the way to California and Maryland.
Bob enjoyed hunting, chopping firewood, barbecuing, and relaxing in the yard in addition to spending time enjoying the company of family and friends. He was always up for a good get together and had a mischievous side. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Bob is survived by his wife Rena, daughter Megan, sons Adam and Ryan, his grandchildren Caylin and Ryleigh, and his siblings Carl, Ellen, John, Peg, and Jane, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family viewing with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any non-profit Veterans organization.
