Robert Charles Healey, child of Sophie and Charles Healey, was Born in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1937 and raised in Warren, Rhode Island and graduated from Warren High School, class of 1955. Bob graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1959, and then went on to earn a Master’s in Engineering Management from Northeastern University in 1967.
While at URI, Bob was accepted into the Army ROTC program and upon graduating was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 20th Combat Engineering Battalion at Fort Devens as Platoon Leader for “B” Company. Following active duty, Bob completed his reserve obligation in July 1967, having attained the rank of Captain. Bob believed it was an honor and privilege to serve in the US Army.
Bob married Patricia Ann Barlow of Bristol, RI in 1960, and over the next several years they welcomed their beloved children Deirdre, Maeve and Timothy into this world.
In 1962 Bob accepted a position with the Gillette Company at the South Boston Manufacturing facility and the family moved to Marblehead. Bob’s career with Gillette spanned 39 years in various technical, manufacturing and corporate roles. Bob was Company Director, Occupational Safety and Environmental Affairs from 1989 until his retirement in 2001.
Bob’s work took him to more than 30 countries including China, Brazil and Russia. He was in Berlin and personally witnessed the breaching of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Bob and Pat particularly loved the island of Bermuda where they enjoyed many holidays.
Bob enjoyed sailing and boating in Massachusetts and Rhode Island waters, skiing at Cannon Mountain, shell fishing and clambakes in Warren and Bristol, RI, and the rich history and architecture of New England. Bob and Pat enjoyed spending time together with family and friends at the Corinthian Yacht Club where they were members since 1977. Bob was a President of Goldthwait Reservation where he later became a trustee, and a Founding Member of the Rhode Island Quahogger Association. Bob was a true dog lover and formed special bonds with Skippy, Kluck Kluck, Shane, Madison, Holland, Lulu and Coal. He was in love with Marblehead, his home for 64 years.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia of 66 years, his daughter Deirdre Blake and her husband William Blake, his daughter Maeve Rice and her husband John Rice, and his son Timothy Healey. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren: Conner Blake and his wife Jenna Blake, Dylan Blake and his wife Lauren Blake, Eamonn Blake, Quinn Blake, Cashel Rice, Eve Rice, Sophia Healey and her wife Kori Looker, and Christopher Healey; and four great grandchildren, Jameson Blake, Declan Blake, Rhys Blake and Cassius Blake.
Bob was known for his friendly, warm and outgoing nature. He always had a smile and a kind word to offer to everyone he encountered.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday June 24, 2026 beginning at 10:30 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, located at 85 Atlantic Ave Marblehead, MA 01945. Burial to follow at Waterside Cemetery, 294 W. Shore Drive Marblehead, MA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Goldthwait Reservation via the link below:
