Robert "Bob" J. Fitzgerald passed away on October 21, 2022 at the age of 91 at his home in Beverly. Born in Somerville on December 25, 1930 to James E. and Alice (Hunzelman) Fitzgerald, Bob was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and spent 38 years on the Cambridge Fire Department, retiring as a Lieutenant.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marie (Fasciano), daughter Debra Kinton and her husband Clark of Reading, daughter Lyne McAuliffe and her husband Don of Beverly, six grandchildren—Meaghan, Zachary, Timothy, Claire, Connor, and William—and two great-grandchildren, Nora and Sophia. Bob and Marie lived in Cambridge before moving to Reading, where Bob would spend the next 58 years, devoting his time, energy, and love to being a true pillar of his family. His daughters and grandchildren were his pride and joy, along with his Red Sox. A connoisseur of terrible humor, ice cream, and baseball trivia, Bob brought such light to the lives of those he touched. He will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to his family, and his ability to fix anything with the contents of his trusty toolbelt.
