Robert A. Farrell, 82, set off on his last adventure and took a hike into the Great Beyond on February 26, 2022. A longtime resident of Marblehead, Bob was born on June 25, 1939 in Somerville, MA to Joseph and Helen (Doherty) Farrell. After graduating from Somerville High School in 1957, Bob served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, and then enrolled in Salem State College where he earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. Bob spent his entire career working in the Marblehead public school system, first as a teacher and later as Principal of the Seaside and Bell Schools. Mr. Farrell 'ruled the school' at Bell for 30 years and positively influenced the lives of many students, parents and teachers alike. His passion for the outdoors, mountain climbing and wilderness adventure may be equally well known and remembered. He summited many of the country's tallest mountains, including Mt. Whitney. Bob was a devoted husband to his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Holden), who passed in 2018. He is survived by his 3 children: son Daniel Farrell and his wife Iris of New Ipswich, NH; daughter Kathleen Dufort and her husband Christopher of Eliot, ME; and nephew Robert Holden of Clewiston, FL. His 4 grandchildren, the late Lindsay Holden, Matthew & Adriana Farrell and Quinn Dufort, were a source of true pride and joy. Bob was also preceded by his sister Dorothy McCarthy of CT and his brother Joseph Farrell of MI.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service being held on March 19th at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, MA. Calling hours from 10 AM-12 PM, with a service at noon.
