Obituary

Due to the COVID-19 measures that Governor Charlie Baker has implemented regarding gatherings of 25 or more people, Mr. Robert Courtney Jr's services have been postponed until a later date.

ARUNDEL, ME- Robert E. Courtney Jr., 63, of Arundel, Maine passed away with his loving family by his side on the morning of Monday March 9, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Salem, Robert was the son of the late Jacqueline (Thibault) and Robert Courtney Sr.

As Robert grew up, he attended St. James Parochial School on Federal St. before going onto Salem High School and later got his GED. It was during that time Robert met the love of his life Kathaleen while working at Bertini's in Salem. When Robert enlisted in the Navy, he and Kathaleen got married when he was stationed in Florida as they committed their lives to one another.

During his 11 years in the Navy, Robert was last stationed in Groton, CT, where he was honorably discharged before moving back to Salem and worked at Eaton's and Honeywell. Later on, Robert and his wife moved to Arundel, ME where they started a family and have resided ever since.

Robert was an avid golfer as he played with his brother Brian and best friend Roland frequently. He took trips with them as an avid Boston sports fan and traveled to see the Red Sox and Patriots play. However, the greatest time spent in his life was with his family. He took trips with his family and ensured to take time to take his daughters on individual trips to places like Washington D.C. Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew him and all of the lives he touched as an amazing person, giving father, and a loving husband.

Robert is survived by: his wife Kathaleen (Moroney) Courtney; his daughters Ariel, Saffron, and Indigo Courtney; his beloved brother Brian Courtney, his sister Debra Smith; his nephew James Primes (more like a son) and his wife Heather, and several nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend Roland D'Entremont; goddaughter Taylor Jean Primes; his sister in law Nancy Moroney, and his brother in law Martin Smith.
