Obituary

Robert A. Carter of Marblehead passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on January 1st after a brief illness. Bob was born in Boston, graduated from Northeastern University and was employed at GE in Lynn for over 35 years as a mechanical engineer. Early in his career he worked on the X-15 test program and later ran the GE engineering program around the CF700 engine, creating a reliable engine for airline service and Federal Express commercial use.

Bob is survived by his wife Mary, his two sons Robert and Alan, his two grandsons, and three nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and four sisters. An avid animal lover, he always supported his family in the many animals they provided homes for over the years. His warm smile and compassion for people was always evident in the many lives he touched. Nothing would please him more than to thank all those who have him in their thoughts and prayers.

Arrangement: Services held privately. Arrangements are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem.
