SALEM - Rita J. McGrattan (94) passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem.

Rita was born in the summer of 1923 to Blanche and Antoine Fontaine in Salem, MA. She continued her early childhood years in Salem where she attended the local schools and graduated from high school in the Top 10 of her class.

After graduation, she went on to work as a secretary for a local photographer in Salem. She later worked at A&P and Stop and Shop as a cashier.

Outside of her work, Rita found the love of her life William McGrattan and they married June 26, 1948. They began their family in Salem, where they would stay for the rest of their lives. Rita will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Rita is predeceased by her brother, Leon Fontaine. She leaves behind: her daughter, Carol McKay and her husband Clyde McKay of Salem, her sons Kevin McGrattan and his wife Margarita McGrattan of Waltham, Brian McGrattan and his wife Patricia McGrattan of Ashland, and Scott McGrattan of Columbia, MD; her grandchildren, Karen Mills and her husband Jay Mills, Kerry McKay and her husband Frank Posluszny, Keith McKay his wife Siobhan McKay, Shannon McGrattan, Kelsey McGrattan, Kathryn McGrattan, Geoffrey McGrattan, and Stephany McGrattan; and her great-grandchildren Kara Posluszny, Emmet Posluszny, Clare McKay, William Mills, and Eleanor Mills.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will take place on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal St Salem. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Anne's Parish, located at 290 Jefferson Ave, Salem.
