Rita M. (Cogoli) Devine age 84 wife of the late Chief Quartermasater Francis N. Devine, United State Navy, Retired died at home unexpectedly Saturday evening.


Born in Worcester the daughter of the late John and Mary (Zuppo) Cogoli she was educated in Worcester schools Following her graduation from Worcester North High she worked for a brief period until meeting and marrying her late husband. His military duty took them to the United States Navy West Coast Naval Bases and they traveled extensively as his career required.


Following his retirement and discharge from the Navy they moved to Marblehead over 40 years ago. Mrs. Devine became an active with various organizations around town. She is well known by her family and friends for her great sense of humor and ability to enjoy life.


She is survived by a brother John Cogoli of Wethersfield, CT; a sister Josephine Rossi of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers Fred, Louis, Anthony, William and Daniel Cogoli.


Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 25 at 12:15 P.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral from 11:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
