Richard J. "Rich" Curley, age 46, loving and devoted husband of Donna L. (Stewart) Curley for 18 years, died Friday afternoon, January 11, 2013 at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem following a courageous battle with renal cancer.

A lifelong resident of Salem, Richard was the son of the late John and Frances (DeGrandpre) Curley. A graduate of Salem High School class of 1985, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Salem State College in 1989. He recently retired from his position as Office Manager for North Shore Physical Therapy in Marblehead after many years.

A devoted father, he looked forward to coming home from work to be together with his family and help his children with their homework on school days. Every summer he looked forward to the annual family camping trip to White Lake State Park in New Hampshire, a favorite vacation spot since he was a child. He also enjoyed playing poker with his buddies.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by 5 children: Michael, Erin, Jessica, Megan and Sarah Curley all of Salem. He is the brother of Sr. Judith Curley, SASV of Lowell, Anne Kobuszewski and her husband William of Beverly, the late David Curley and his wife Amy of Georgetown, Caroline Curley of Salem, Patricia Curley of Beverly, and Kevin Curley and his wife Elena of Beverly, as well as his in-laws from the Stewart family: Lorelee Stewart of Salem, Gary Stewart of Dover, DE, and Michael Stewart of Salem; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Lucille (L'Heureux) Stewart of Salem; his nieces and nephews: Christine and her husband James Clancy, Elise, John, Eliza and Rebecca Curley, and Matthew and Danielle Stewart.

His Funeral will be held on Wednesday January 16, 2013 at 8:15AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Anne Church, 292 Jefferson Avenue, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Curley Family Educational Fund, c/o Marblehead Bank, 100 Cummings Ctr., Suite 101F, Attn: Susan Osborn, Beverly, MA 01915.
