Richard T. "Dick" Reynolds, age 79, beloved husband for 52 years of Marjorie Ann (Walsh) Reynolds, passed away at Beverly Hospital on Tuesday August 24, 2010. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in the class of 1948. Following High School, he entered the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Noa. Upon returning home, Mr. Reynolds attended Salem State College, where he met his beloved wife.
He was employed with G.T.E. Sylvania for 33 years, retiring in 1996, as a member of the Sylvania Quarter Century Club.
He enjoyed his monthly poker games with his GTE friends for over 40 years. He was also an avid Red Sox fan. His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family. His greatest joy was being part of his grandsons' lives, attending their sporting and school events. He was very proud of all of their accomplishments.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Barceleau and her husband David of Lynn; Elaine Bonanno and her husband Joseph of Topsfield; Carol Reynolds and her partner Doug Nelson of Naples, ME; Ellen Jarmusik and her husband Michael of Salem; his daughter-in-law, Maryann Reynolds of St. Paul, MN; seven grandsons, Dominic and Patrick Barceleau; Tom, Eric and Kevin Bonanno; Ian and Jake Reynolds. He is also survived by his brother, John "Jack" Reynolds and his wife Susanne of Lynn; his sister, Helen Powers and her husband Robert of Lynn and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Thomas P. Reynolds, as well as 2 infants, Elizabeth and Richard. He was also brother of the late Patricia Horgan and her late husband Donald.
His funeral will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 8:15 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Internment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
