Richard Thomas Lessor, 72, passed away peacefully on October 28, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born in Peabody, MA to Edward and Margaret Lessor (Lonergan) on December 4 ^th , 1946. He spent his childhood in Peabody with his three siblings, Edward, Mary, and Patricia Lessor, where he attended Peabody public schools and the Lynn Trade School. As a teenager, Richard met his wife, Joan Lessor (Ball), at a Burger Chef restaurant. Joan and Richie were married in 1968 and had two children, Mark and Tracy. Richard loved his dogs, pickup trucks, Stephan King novels, sci-fi/horror films, and deliberately upsetting all the locals by wearing a NY Yankees hat. Richard was an employee of Osram Sylvania Inc. for 25 years and a shop steward for the teamsters local 42 for 15 years. He retired from Salem State College after 9 years of employment.

Richard is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Lessor (Ball) of Salem, his brother Edward Lessor and his wife Margaret Lessor, his sister Mary Lussier (Lessor) and her husband Gerald Lussier, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Beaulieu. He also leaves behind his son Mark Lessor, daughter Tracy Lessor, his granddaughters Alysha and Nicole Lessor, his great grandson William Boulay, and many nieces and nephews. Richard joins his sister, Patricia Beaulieu (Lessor), who passed away earlier this year.

His visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, corner of North St., Salem on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.  His Funeral Service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.  Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  For additional information or online guest book please call 978-744-0497 or visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com .
