Richard "Dick" Rankin, "Ricardo" to his closest friends, died April 28, 2009, at the Devereux House after a series of lengthy illnesses.
He was a pioneer in the educational film industry, being the first independent sales representative.
Mr. Rankin loved family, friends and food, though not necessarily in that order.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rankin; his sister, Jean McGrath of Minneapolis, Minn.; two nieces, Ann McCarty and Carol Basye, both of Columbus, N.C.; and a daughter.
His memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at the Old North Church, 35 Washington St., Marblehead.
