Richard "Scooter" Cass, age 47, loving husband of Kim (Holbert) Cass, died Wednesday evening, January 9, 2013 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born in Salem, son of the late Richard and Maria Patricia (Howlett) Cass. He attended Salem Schools and graduated from Salem High School in the class of 1983.

Rick was employed as a plumber for over 20 years. He started working for his brother in-law Robert Morin. He was later employed with Granville Plumbing and Heating in North Andover.

Rick had many interest in his life. He enjoyed flying his remote control helicopters, camping and the outdoors. He also enjoyed cooking, baking and trying new recipes, but, most especially he enjoyed being with his friends and family.

Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Kim are his children, Derek Cass of Beverly, Kelli Doucette and her fiance, Dan Argenbright of Manchester, NH along with his granddaughter, Jasmine Andrews of Manchester, NH; his sister, Mary Morin and her husband Robert of Beverly; and his mother in law Joan Holbert of Peabody. Richard was predeceased by his father in law Bernard Holbert.

Richard's funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem at 2:00 P.M. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service, at the Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be held privately at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V. Salem #84, PO Box 945, Salem, MA 01970.
