IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard M.
Callahan
November 9, 1927 – September 20, 2019
Richard M. Callahan (Dick) passed away on September 20, 2019. Richard was born in Salem to Martin Callahan and Mary Elizabeth (Buckley) Callahan on November 9, 1927. He attended St. James School, and graduated from Salem High. He worked at Howard Johnson's in Salem as a pastry chef and continued his career at the Towne Lyne House on the Lynnfield/Peabody line for almost 40 years. Richard retired as the front of the house manager of the restaurant.
Being part of a large Irish family who came to America in the early 1900's, he was very proud of his heritage and as a younger man he was a member of the AOH in Salem.
He loved his dogs, especially Sophie. Richard also loved to read, and as his eye sight started to fail he would listen to books on tape. He loved to cook everything - from pastries to Thanksgiving Dinner.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Roseann (McGregor) Callahan, his son Richard Callahan of Danvers, his daughter Colleen Callahan of Salem, his grandchildren: James, Justin, Timmy, Robert, Sarah, Rachael, Rebecca and Hannah. Richard was predeceased by his sister Mary Callahan and his brother Robert Callahan.
